It has been quite a while since I decided to write on my blog. Lately there have been many moments of inspiration to write, reflect, and ponder upon.
But in my inbox of emails today, I received an email titled, "We miss you" and attached to it was the photos of Erin and Braden. Two fun little friends of mine from San Francisco. But of course their father sent it, because they probably haven't figured out the whole email thing yet. They are so much fun. I think I've really gotten to know these two little friends of mine better in the last two years since I have been living in San Francisco. They were our flower girl and ringbearer for our wedding.
Erin is sporting an ice-skating black dress and her younger brother Braden is wearing a hockey team shirt. They are both avid ice-skaters. Speaking of ice-skating I dont' recall when was the last time I went ice-skating.
I have lots to write about now that me and Tim are married. There are also countless adventures at our wedding and during our cross country drive and also our move into our place now in Virginia Beach. I'll probably write another blog soon about our wedding, drive, and married life.
As for the email that I received, it really brightened my day here. Already in Virginia Beach, the weather is really really warm, hot and sunny, and yet this email made my day even brighter. I think I read once a devotion about friends. When we think about friends, most often we'll think about those we grew up with, shared fond memories with, or have good times with. I enjoy having friends that are littler than me too. Actually I think I enjoy having friends that are a lot older than me too. It brings me great joy to hang out with people who are littler and also those that are older. Grandmas and grandpas, professors, and scholars, or childrens books all peek my curiosity. Maybe there is something to be said about that.
In life, we can recall times when we were young and couldn't wait to grow older and more mature, but as we get older, I think we also might want to deny how old we are..... Well, what to be said about that ? That probably only applies to some people, not all.
Something really special happened this weekend that also brought a smile to my face. As I am here in VA Beach, it is still a transitional time for me, and sometimes when I stop to wonder what is my role here, I always find that God has a way to always bring it back to Him. Friday night we had youth group, and one of the youth girls had shared something in their testimony, and it had some slight reference to me being a part of it. Even though it might have happened for such a brief time, it was something that was a touch point, or memory for her and it just amazed me how powerful our God is. God was able to use a moment, a conversation, a camping trip, a shared experience to touch her and now she is a growing child of his. How much joy there is to see fruit! Fruit in loving our Heavenly Father.
Oh how He loves you and me! If we call on His name and trust Jesus with our lives, God desires for us all to be his children. Just like the photo of my little friends -- I am reminded of the importance of having child-like faith in Christ, especially when we don't know what's to come.
